Y’all, I survived an epic July.
The month flew by from spending the first half of the month in Costa Rica then diving nose first into wedding galore starting with my beatiful cousin’s wedding who I grew up with and had “who-can-brush-their-teeth-harder” competitions after fighting all night who can play with her American Dolls in her FROG room (ya, we were that close). Three days after that ended, I started it all over again celebrating my bestie meatball’s wedding. Congratulations to my homies but… man… I am freaking exhausted.
Everything was back to back with a small break in between before the dance practices and alteration runs began all over again. And, as life via Snapchat and Instagram goes to show, Indian-cultural weddings are intense five day shabangs from henna nights to religious things and dinners before the wedding vows and then wrapping it all up with a night of dancing and singing and celebrating at a fun AF reception. There are so many traditions to uphold and the four-five days of wildin’ fly by in a heartbeat with all of the colorful jewels and potentially even animal appearances from horses and maybe even an elephant or two. In short, my big fat Greek Wedding has nothing on my two Big Fat Indian Weddings.
Such as life is, then I went straight to Austin for a week for a client conference and now I’m finally back in my apartment after what feels like a decade, as my henna fades away and I starve to death because clearly there is no food here (at least none that doesn’t have fungi on it). But somehow, I’m happily taking calm, deep breaths knowing whatever remains of #summer16 will go to pool side relaxing and catching up on my summer reading (at said pool side).
xo,
