It felt like spring would never get here! Sure, we all love when it starts to feel like fall with the cool breeze, but as soon as it’s cold for more than a week it’s like our minds switch to summer mode and beg for the sun to come out and save us. And thankfully, it finalllly is! Yo GOT, Winter is NOT here.
Now that we (or maybe just me…) have adjusted from setting our clocks forward we can officially start the spring season. First, it’s time to pack away the cold-weather clothes and break out the flirty skirts, sandals, and swimsuits galore. Second, it’s only right that we take a look at what is in our Spring Lookbook. Although I would never advise working girls to purchase a completely new spring wardrobe with their hard earned mula and financially savvy ways of life, I definitely encourage picking up a few new things that make you feel stylish and confident! WERK, girl.
Nothing says fun and flirtatious quite like a shoulder-baring top. With ruffles, lace, crops, these playful little tops are way too cute not to have at least one. The Cut shows 14 ways you can wear one of these flowy, bohemian tops, so if you’re not sure exactly how you want to style it, check out their ideas for inspiration (or Pinterest) for a good place to start!
In case you haven’t noticed yet, the footwear this season has taken a turn for the ballerina—and it’s adorable! Let your inner Misty Copeland shine… even if you don’t have her calf muscles (#goals). These have Spring Vibes written all over them whether you choose the flat or heeled varieties and much more feminine than sneakers. Prepare to feel like a lady!
Lingerie as the Main Event
If you thought your undergarments were meant to be under your clothes, think again. This season, it’s all about bringing the underwear to the outside – which sounds Captain America, but it’s not if you do it right. Example. The ‘90s slip dress made chic by none other than Kate Moss in her heyday. For spring, it’s all about lace and sexy details and finding the right balance of sensual yet seemingly appropriate could be the biggest challenge for fashionistas.
The familiar fabric is taking ahold of our spring wardrobes. Denim is everywhere, from hats to dresses to skirts to outerwear, from head to toe. But how you wear denim is perhaps the most important. Browse through the Lyst dress collection for a modern take on the antiquated textile, this way you know what to do (and more importantly what not to do) when it comes to dressing in denim.
Personally, all of the these styles can mesh pretty well together especially when layering is involved, so I might just have to take back what I said about only buying one new thing for the season. Hey, how can you wear a ruffled, off-the-shoulder crop top but no high-waisted denim skirt? It’s only logic!
