Slab on the blacks, the golds, the shimmers and the sparkles all on, what like, 3ish inches of an eyelid (No really…. how big are eyelids?), a little bit of blending, some mascara and eyeliner and 15 minutes later the perfect smokey eye for all of the holiday fun! Right, if only it was that easy…
Too bad we aren’t the Kardashians who have makeup artists flocking on their beck and call to do a solid smokey everyday of their lives since reality is a force of nature. However, I recently learned that it doesn’t really have to be as hard or gruesome or long or exhausting of a process to get the perfect smoked out look while hanging out with Dee from Sephora who showed me a trick or two on how to master the art of eyeshadow.
Absolutely do your eyes first. It’s natural for me to put my foundation and concealer on first but at the end that results in having eyeshadow dust and shimmers all over my face that is impossible to remove. So this may sound obvious but just go straight to the eyes.
Bring out the edge. I also start from the inside with my lighter colors and make my way to the outter ends but Dee recommends putting on the blacks and darker colors that you want to use first. And to get a better angle, she recommends using the edge of a makeup bottle to see how far out you have to go.
Make it pop. Though she totally got to use Gwen Stefani’s new eyeshadow palette on me (swooonnnnn), you can make your colors pop and be extra pigmented by misting a setting spray on the eyeshadow to make it a creamier shade. The difference in application is unbelieveable!
Get messy. Once you have applied what colors in the areas you want, blend, blend, blend and don’t stop! Literally the more you blend the prettier it looks. Top it all off with a nude lip and you’re ready to be the show stopper at any holiday party this season!
Though these tricks may seem easy, which they absolutely are, just by putting in that extra little bit of effort can make the biggest difference in your holiday glam look. Plus a girl’s eyes and her smile are her prettiest features, so don’t be scared to do some werk!
Sending all my lovely BATPers
warm smokey wishes this holiday,
