This week I’ve received a great lesson in “mother’s blessings” like OK, I always knew my mother prays for me and kept me in her thoughts but I guess I never realized the power of her well wishes until I got into an accident with an 18 wheeler and walked away (or ambulanced-away?) with injuries that will all eventually heal and damage that will eventually be fixed.
It was my mother’s prayers that has supported me through life’s lows and helped me find life’s high. She has been my everything, my angel who silently roots for nothing but my greatness, safety and serenity with nothing in return. It makes complete sense… How else can you explain when horrible hurricane Sandy hit New York, leaving all my friends with no electricity and flooding and the likes. But my apartment? The shabbiest of them all – aka walk up with constant landlord heater battles on the second floor – oh why yes, the only neighborhood in NY that had no trees fallen, area trains working and no power outage.
It was my mom. It has always been nobody but her.
There may be nothing I can ever get for her this Mother’s Day that half matches what she does for all of us on a day to day basis. Nothing will ever beat the homemade macaroni necklace that I made with love in kindergarten but maybe something that’s wrapped with love, something that’s as big as her love, as beautiful as her smile or as amazing as she is. I may never be able to find something that fits the criteria, but here is a good start:
Something that’s as classic as she is (that I can steal from her vanity).
Happy Mother’s Day to all the lovely moms from BATP,
