To my mom, sisters and best of girlfriends. To the strong females everywhere, who fight for what they believe, follow their dreams, never look back, love dearly and run this world while wearing high heels and red lips… this one’s for you.
As a woman, sometimes it feels as if we are speaking a completely different language then males – who just don’t get it most days – but if we don’t rally for each other together, then who will? In honor of International Women’s Day and being of a special PR Girl breed, I wanted to take a moment to recognize some fierceless woman who have worked hard to have their voices heard, mastering the art of communications. We can learn something from all of these amazing females as they earn the title of #GirlBOSS (which is on my to-read list if I could ever finish The Casual Vacancy… why oh why is it so hard?)
Lupita Nyong’o
Command to be heard without commanding anyone at all
Sincerity and grace, Lupita is proof that you don’t need to speak loudly or carry a big stick to be heard. Articulate and intentional, Lupita has inspired in her speeches all the way from her first Academy Award leaving behind the “The Lupita Effect” of planting the seed of possibility.

Angelina Jolie
Have a passion drive you
I know she’s an unexpected choice, but Angelina Jolie is under-celebrated as a communicator and an advocate. A true testament that beauty is NOT only skin-deep, with her heart-felt devotion to work endlessly for those without a voice of their own.
—
Sofia Vergara
Drive the point home, regardless of the words that got you there
Don’t let her accent fool you this woman has her sh*t figured out, as the top earning actress for the third year in a row. Sofia is loud and in charge, making a presence no matter where she is! You may have a hard time understanding her, but she makes her point and her intentions clear.

Malala Yousafzai
Fight for a cause, fearlessly
Being Pakistani myself, I am touched by the work of Malala who serves as a symbol of hope and of empowerment for her efforts on women’s rights. Ca mon, this girl has spoken up at half my age without letting terrorist groups scare her off. Rightly so.

Sheryl Sandberg
Spread the message, simply
Famous for speaking the truths for females in the workplace, Sheryl is known to engage and move her audience. Rumor goes that she doesn’t even use a teleprompter. All in the same, confidently executing her simple messages without missing a beat #PRGirlDream

Michelle Obama
Be composed
She may not carry the power of her husband but there’s arguably no one who makes better use of the world stage, fighting childhood obesity and promoting healthier lifestyles, its was the First Lady herself who got me to eat my first salad. That really says something…have you seen my last 8 instagrams? She finds a way for you to believe her vision in the most composed way possible.

Ellen DeGeneres
Let laughter be your guiding light
And not because I got to see her for work couple months back, but truly because she dances her way to the most likeable TV personality. Aka only my favorite way of communicating. A pioneer in the world of television, Ellen’s distinct comedic voice resonates with audiences from her first stand-up show to the host of the Emmys.
