They told me to come fall in love… and that was exactly what I did with all the fashion and jewels a girl could ask for last week at “In Vogue: Come Fall in Love with Fashion” hosted by the lovely Arefa Merchant of A.R. Designers in Uptown Houston. The mood was perfect – rebellious with a side of love – had me and my favorite +1, sissy dearest, oooh-ing and aaah-ing as we admired all of the clutches we secretly prayed belonged in our closets. Sitting side by side with ABC’s Poojah Lodhia, Fox New’s Jaquei Baly and the loveliest local Houston blogger Sincerely, Stella Marie (who, PS, did a much better job than I at capturing images so theres that) while DJ Samia dropped the perfect Romantical beats… I mean our favorite DJ Bat. P’s Lovers playlist is surely a close second but you’re starting to get the idea, no? Legit all of Houston really came dressed to the tee that you would have thought it was a street show from Chanel pearls to Michael Kors strappy heels and Prada handbags in attendance from fashionistas like Nirmin Bhamani. Literally I wanted everything I saw…on and off the shelf.
However, you could have stripped the scene naked and A.R. Designers collection would have spoken for itself. The unbalanced look is so Spring 2015, like that one earring look, asymmetrical looks, clashing colors and mismatched beads – the beauty was in the irregularity. One thing for certain is that we are keeping an eye out for chunky heavy metals that are making their way back from the 70s somehow… except much less Hippie. I wonder if my mom has anything in her closet? She was like 3 then so basically I’m sure she does….
Best part of all, the event benefited our local nonprofit Child Advocates of Fort Bend. If you thought I loved fashion, I love fashion with a cause ten times more. Put my money where my purpose is.
So don’t forget, more is always more especially with your jewels this Spring.
But before I go, thanks to A.R. Designers for sponsoring today’s story and inviting us out to In Vogue: Come Fall in Love with Fashion with Neiman Marcus. X+O
