I. Finally. Finished. This. Book. After. LIKE. LITERALLY. FOUR. FULL. MONTHS. IF. NOT. LONGER. Not to mention I am a sucker for sci-fi (after fantasy and girly and comedy-esque books) and have a weird love for reading. So the fact that it took me this long to finish a book troubled middle schoolers read in weeks is truly and really shocking.
I picked up this book because of the whole, “I have to read the book before I watch the movie” thing I swear by, which by the way, this turns into “I read the book and never watch the movie” (hello Great Gatsby and The Help) (yes I’ve noticed the trend). In both cases, I enjoyed to the tee the book. LIKE LOVED. The characters, the language, falling deeply into the plot. And then this happened. I just couldn’t get into it. I mean there were pages where I was super intrigued. And then chapters I was dying in so I skimmed and I never ever skim…ever. In fact, I re-read great chapters because I want to relive it.
I mean battle room is totes cool and I would love to freeze people temporarily and watch them float away. Especially annoying people.
And if I was in this book, I totally would have been Bean.
“I need you to be clever, Bean. I need you to think of solutions to problems we haven’t seen yet. I want you to try things that no one has ever tried because they’re absolutely stupid.”

Hey, some people love it, but for BATP this gets the very low low score of:
The Ender.
