Like every health nut, I have “considered” in my lifetime to try the juicing phenomena as a detox. The furthest I ever got was the occasional nutritional smoothie for dinner, and usually been ok since its something light after an intense workout (read: too exhausted to cook after kicking a**). And then one cold January day, I decided, why the heck not and had a kale+chia seeds+soy protein+mangos smoothie for lunch.
I can tell you… it was HARD. First off, it took me literally like 4 hours to drink it. Also, if I hadn’t had bananas and oatmeal for breakfast, I’m not sure I could have done it at all. And um, correction, I still couldn’t do it. I munched on mini muffins and almonds the entire day and then ended up scarfing down pizza and cheetos for dinner or fear that I would faint. Looking back, I don’t think I was hungry-hungry like starving and yes I had a great amounts of energy, but I just missed the action of eating and felt like my body wasn’t full.
For the people who can do this for days multiple times a year, kudos my friend. I forever will only consider juicing, as a light (and lazy) alternative for dinner.
