May 5 – a total bliss of confusion. Which do I celebrate? Guys in suits or Mirachi bands? Some sort of fancy rotisserie chicken (I think) or salsa? Sitting pretty or standing with support? Horses or Margs?
It may not be an easy decision for us average people, but for PETA it was simple. Derby, duh. PETA put up a striking mobile billboard that was driven up and down the streets outside the racetrack in the days leading up and on the day of the biggest animal cruelty event of the season. A stunt that brought attention to the mistreatment of this gorgeous animal where 24 of on average are dying weekly at American racetracks. #SaveTheHorses
It was also easy for Taco Cabana to go all Cinco de Burrito on us by offering post celebration cures: a free breakfast taco. Back in Austin, this would have been magical words to my college-broke ears. Now my NYC-broke ears is pissed that there isn’t one close enough to indulge in the fun!
So who wins? Neither.
The real PR winner this time is the Magic Chocolate tree full of Cadbury.
Do you know me? Of course, chocolate always wins even when it’s completely not relevant to anything. Who doesn’t want a tree to appear in your Park with alpacas and gold confetti.
Cheers to Sunday Funday De PR,
