The best part about Wednesday (like why isn’t it Friday yet?) is talking with my dear West Coast PR Love who reminds us how to stay work (and energy, duh) efficient in the PR cubicles of love.
How do you juggle multiple clients and stay PRefficient?
East: See below.
West: TO-DO LISTS! If I didn’t write everything down, I’d be a mess. Especially in PR, which is so fast-paced and constant looming deadlines, to-do lists are key. Mine are usually organized by client (an app here, couple hotels and restaurants there), and I have a separate list of tasks I need to complete each day. Making folders in Outlook helps too, I just file away an email after I’ve taken care of it. There’s something so fulfilling about crossing a project off your list!
East: Ok, but no really. Sometimes it just helps to stop for a second, breathe, and even go outside to get some air. The moment you get back to your desk you’ll feel rejuvenated and ready to take on the beasts hidden in the crazy PR weeks. Check your self don’t wreck yourself.
How do you stay “green” in the office?
East: I’m that girl who goes around turning off office lights/computer screens at the end of the day and leave my colleagues invisible energy citations from Mother Earth. Can’t waste paper here.
West: I try to limit printing and always do double-sided, recycle whenever possible, (including a separate bin for compost – come on, I work in San Francisco, did you expect anything less?), take public transportation to work everyday, and refuse to take a paper bag when I’m buying lunch. Saving the world, 10 cents at a time!
