Happy Birthday, Mr. President!
Not only is this a holiday for you, but PR professionals know how to take advantage of this holiday and spread the executive spirit. Here are a few companies doing what PR professionals do best, publicize.
*Mount Cheesemore? Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in NY’s Times Square is offering guests a taste of history as Master Cheese Carver (how is this a real title?!) Sarah Kaufmann recreates Mount Rushmore with 160 pounds of cheddar cheese during a two-day cheese-sculpting demonstration. I mean this is scary considering the rat population in NY and building a six foot long replica of the historic national monument of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln in cheese is an invitation for trouble!
*President’s Day has long become the online shopping holiday… well duh everything else is closed. 40% off sitewide at Tobi.com with PREZ40 and Macy’s has various discounts with code PRES at check out. Those are just some I came across, what others have you seen?
*A PR crisis is hard to avoid (and really sucks for any PR girl with a day off!) as some anon rep for McDonald’s took over Burger King’s twitter in a stunt known as: the Whopper failure = McD’s bought BK’s throne. A couple hours into the stunt, and the real Burger King hadn’t responded or regained control yet, though in that time period the Twitter account has gained 20K followers, and counting. So maybe a little hacking never hurts except for maybe the negative bath salts and bad whopper tweets?
What other Presidential stunts did you see today?
