As the new year starts, experts start to build out their hopes and dreams for PR Generation 2013. There’s a lot of predictions out there, some that I agree with, some that I disagree with, some that I think were based purely on wishful thinking (not judging but judging). Here are my favorite trends to watch for in 2013, places where I definitely see PR going…
PR goes mobile. Have you checked out Flipboard? Its your mobile app to stay on top of all your news in the genre you want in a fun finger flipping motion. It’s easy to share, easy to read, easy to ignore. That’s the first of many mobile apps this year to get your news. Learning to use 140 characters to make mobile-ready press content i.e. pitches and press releases, will be the challenge of the coming year.
PR becomes visual. Can one picture tell your entire campaign? What about with the Hefe filter? Smartphone users are spending more time on Instagram than Twitter so ramp up those infographics because a picture is worth a 1000 words (hopefully without thousands of words!) Side note, you’ll see its even easier to pitch a story when you offer an infographic.
A toast to the new PR, the trends to come, and to the future (which if anything like the Mayan apocalypse might just be a big surprise)! Where do you see PR going in 2013?
