As NYC rolls into its hottest months in July and August, all true New Yorkers start to take vacations. And as everyone starts to take days off, the office slowly starts to slim down and the only thing I have on my mind is me next. When co-workers leave for some R&R, it could cause for some S&S (stress & sweat) for everyone left behind. A few tricks I’ve picked up over the last couple weeks to avoid the S&S as teammates leave to get some color include:
- Plan early! Last minute vacations could leave scheduling nightmares with X’s and O’s out of the office and cohesiveness far from sight. Avoid last minute scrambling and give your team mates plenty of time to prepare for your absence and of course an abundance of reminders of upcoming scheduling change helps the process.
- Communicate and over communicate about all action items before the team lead heads out to a “wi-fi dead zone” and you are no longer able to catch them with any last minute questions
- Be efficient before heading out by trying to get everything for the week (or as much as foreseeable planned) out of the way to cause less havoc for your team
How do you avoid S&S while your co-workers enjoy some much needed R&R?
