Haymitch, District 12′s only victor played by Woody Harrelson, was exactly how I envisioned him… PR Professional at it’s finest.
Crazy about the books since last year, I had an image of each character and Haymitch was everything and more as he evolved into becoming my favorite character over the course of the 3 books… After all, he does what I love best and in a non-post America rebellion world he definitively would be a badass PR professional.
Some of Haymitch’s tricks over a span of a month that every PR person eventually does:
- Media training: Katniss definitely needed all the help she could get. He prepped her, made her stay calm and gave her advice her talking points (some Do’s… a lot of Don’ts..)
- Pitching the story: He was able to play up the District 12′s cross-star lovers story allowing him to get the sponsors he needed to save his clients by making them memorable and desirable.
- Getting them coverage: Who wants to pay attention to boring winners? #Nobody. He was able to get the right people interested at the right time, allowing more people to follow them closely and rooting for their success
- Keeping clients calm and keeping his cool: With his humor and wits, he was able to calm Katniss whenever she got upset with what the plan was and blew up like a firecracker… great communication skills at it’s finest. He got on her level and kept it real. Do this..or die.
Haymitch is a PR God from the movies heaven and due to his amazing skills he was able to get the success he needed…Victory.
