This past weekend was my first real snow day in New York, and basically first snow day of my life since snow in Texas means everything is canceled with a single snowflake. I quickly learned that you can slip when it ices, the white balls on the floor is salt to effectively melt snow and ice, and that you don’t magically walk on top of the snow but you lose three inches off of your already small height and sink into the ground.
To enjoy freezing in the snow, I went to go participate in the “Freeze Tag on Wall St.” event, a day dedicated to celebrating youth and playing schoolyard games, such as Freeze Tag and Red Rover. However, by the time we got there everyone was playing hide and go seek, because we couldn’t find a single sign or person playing any childhood games! I have no idea where everyone went… Guess that can be described as a #fail.
But it’s ok, because I played my own game: kicking flurry white snow and making snowmen (and stealing credit for other people’s snowmen)… I always thought snowmen was a Christmas thing… but it seems as if its more of a “when it snows” kind of thing.
Any survival snow tips?
